Our dental team is friendly and welcoming to all patients, so please come along for your regular dental checkup.
We recommend visiting the dentist twice a year, preferably every six-months as this helps us discover any dental issues you have and help you maintain your most beautiful smile.
However, the amount of visits per year varies depending on the individual’s dental health. Patients with bad dental health may be required to visit multiple times a year, while patients with good oral health should visit every six-months for a check-up and clean.
People who are more prone to dental issues (smokers, pregnant women, diabetics, bad dental health), should visit the dentist more often.
There are many things that should trigger you to book a dental visit earlier. Basically, anything that is an issue with your oral health, may require attention.
Reasons to visit the dentist include, but are not limited to:
If you believe you have a dental issue, it’s best to visit the dentist to be safe. If you leave an issue unchecked, it can turn into a more serious issue, causing damage and discomfort.
The dentist will do a full health check of your teeth, gums and jaw. They will first examine your mouth with their eyes and then follow up with an x-ray. The x-ray will show many things, most commonly used to detect gum disease, decay and cavities.
The dentist, after your check-up, will professionally clean your teeth, usually by removing plaque, tartar, stains and finishing up with fluoride treatment to strengthen your enamel.
We recommended taking your child to visit the dentist by age two or within six months of their first tooth.
Your child will learn what it’s like to visit the dentist and get to know the staff, which is important as they grow up.
Children’s dentistry is important as the dentist will examine their mouth for any growth issues with the teeth, gum and jaw.
Dentists are professionals at finding dental issues, so they will find decay or other issues. The earlier tooth decay is found, the earlier treatment can begin.
The dentist will eventually take an x-ray to check out your child’s permanent teeth and reveal any issues early, such as crowding, missing teeth or bite issues.
This allows the dentist and the parents to know and prepare for possible treatments their child may need in the future.
