Dentures are designed to replicate the function of natural teeth but learning to chew with new dentures can take some time.
Lower dentures are especially difficult because there is no suction on your lower gums. To get used to the feeling of your new dentures, we recommend wearing them all the time at first.
Here are some tips while you are starting out:
As you are adjusting to your new dentures, it is likely that you will experience some mild gum soreness. Other symptoms may include slurred speech, a bulky feeling, excess saliva production or reduced taste. This is very common when getting used to your full dentures, and these symptoms usually disappear over time.
If you develop a sore spot you may need a denture adjustment. If this happens or you are unsure about any of your symptoms, return to Crown Dental Group and our dedicated dental prosthetist will help find a solution that is right for you.
